Carter has been cracking me up today...

Both boys are all about trying to get my coffee.  They go get spoons and try to take sips.  Then today Carter got a hold of my cup and said "not mom's, Carter's coffee."  Then later he was mad at Dylan and yelled at him "Dylan Bormann."
Regardless, it is a nice change from NO.

What's it like going from living in a city of a few hundred thousand to a town of just over a thousand?

Well, I must say I've done quite a few things in the last few weeks that I rarely did in the cities:

Use my bright lights!

I've left my car running with the keys in it to go inside a gas station/post office on a number of occasions.

Used the phone book like 5 times!  We don't even have one at our house.

Written like 10 checks, I NEVER write checks. The only reason my checkbook is even in my purse is because I didn't want to lose it in the move.

Lots of time driving to other places and I'm thinking they should update the highway speed limit signs from Baxter to Newton to about 47, because that seems to be the most common speed.

We have to use the land line.  Between AT&T and our iphones, we basically get no service!  It is AWFUL!!  Not just in Baxter, everywhere.  Now the boys get all excited every time the phone rings and they run for it.  We rarely answered our phone at our house.

We are missing daddy!

I'll be honest, definitely not sure if I am cut out to be a stay-home-mom!  I think I can handle it during the day, but with Keith out of town, it's pretty tough!  Thank goodness mom is here with me. We took them to the McDonald's playhouse yesterday, which was fun, but there was absolutely no way I would ever be able to get them out on my own.  We pretty much had to pin both down to attempt to get boots and coats on and they kicked and screamed all the way to the car.  Today I was brave and took them to the ortho with me, NEVER again!  It started well, but ended bad.  We were going to go to the store, but after that we went straight home.  Which brings me to the next tough thing....being stuck inside!  These two just need to get out and run around.
I'm having a hard time too with so many big changes and so many unknowns and I'm even a person who likes a little surprise!
The job hunt is starting to get a little frustrating! I have had good luck at meeting with a lot of the right people at good places, but there aren't a lot of openings.  Then the places with interesting jobs that I get excited about, I feel as though my resume goes to the big black hole of resumes!
I've been enjoying house hunting, but that is starting to irritate me now.  We still aren't 100% sure we will live in Ankeny, but you would think with over 600 houses on the market, I would find a few I liked.  YES... I'm being picky, but it's a house!  Then we initially thought this may be a five year home, but then what if we absolutely love the neighborhood, so do you go smaller or larger in case you end up staying forever?

Anyway, today was just not my best day!  Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to dig deep for some extra patience for a couple demanding toddlers!  Did I mention Carter's favorite word to use is "no,"  I heard that about 50 times today! The good news is even though they got in trouble many times today, they still gave me lots of big hugs at bedtime.

It was an OLIVER weekend!

Last weekend we went to Norwalk to celebrate Oliver's 1st BIRTHDAY!!!!  I can't believe he is already one.  It was a busy party with lots of little boys running around, I think next year will be really wild.  He did a pretty good job with his cake and had lots of fun opening presents.  He was really digging the musical instruments and was a one-man-band at times.
Sunday was his baptism, but I guess I didn't get any pictures.  Sarah posted a bunch on the Bormann Family blog on the side bar.

Bormann Christmas

Over New Year's weekend, we had the big Bormann Christmas in Norwalk at Adam and Sarah's house.  The boys had a lot of fun bouncing in the jump house and playing with their cousin Oliver.
Keith and I thought we would play a fun prank on Nick.  We bought these SUPER BLUE Lee jeans at Kohl's and wrapped them up with a couple of shirts.  We weren't sure what he would think, but he was a good sport and showed them off for us!
Grandma Bormann has been super busy making blankets!  She made the boys these cool new blankets, which is great because they are getting a little long for a lot of their blankets.  (I might use them more than them) Then she had also been working really hard making quilts for Sarah and me!  Sorry, I don't have a pic!
Sarah made the boys some super cool super hero capes!  We don't watch much Batman or Superman, so they don't quite get them yet, but they will soon.  I will take a picture of them with them on some night, they are adorable! Overall, it was a really fun weekend!

Such a helper...

Dylan is definitely our helper!  He gets so excited and is always willing to help if you ask!  Last week he put away all the little boy spoons, forks and cups too!  This boy is all about order and once you do something one way, that is how he does it.  For example....
Usually in the morning when I get up, I put socks on and a sweatshirt, so one day last week when I started to head over to the sock drawer, he beat me to it and pulled out a pair of socks.
We try to dry Stella's paws off with a towel when it's snowy out, so one day right after she got inside, he ran off and quickly returned with a towel.
When it comes to cereal in the morning (they both do this), he'll yell bowl, then if you don't have it he'll yell for spoon or run and get it, then every time we refill, they won't touch it until we add more milk, even if there is plenty in the bowl.
He is such a little cleaner (I don't know where he gets it), I built this huge train track that he really didn't get that excited about, but then when we were picking it up, he was picked up almost the entire track, with excitement of course!
He always wants to be the one to turn things on and off, like the lights or the DVD player in the car

Super FUN Aunt Sarah!

We celebrated the Bormann Christmas over New Year's weekend.  Sarah borrowed this really cool jump house from a friend and the boys had a blast in it all weekend.  You should have seen their little faces every time we blew it up!

Sweet Moments

A couple Carter stories...

Tonight the boys are not doing well going to sleep.  Dylan keeps going to the door crying and wanting out of his room. We usually tell them they need to get back into bed when they try to escape, but for some reason he was really wanting me. Then of course when one sees you in the room, the other one wants up too!  So I am sitting on the floor, one boy on each leg, both snuggled up against me.  Then Carter reaches over to Dylan's head and starts rubbing it and comforting him, so sweet!

Today Carter saw one of Cade's pull-ups and just had to wear that instead of his diaper.  So excited about it all day!  Had to do pull-ups the rest of the day.  Then tonight Keith put a regular diaper on, he was not happy about that at all!  So I said, how about we put the yellow undies on!  That worked!  Then about five minutes later we started talking about his Thomas underwear, so we had to go back and switch. Again, he was so excited and proud.  About 20 minutes later, I walked back to his room and found him with a different pair of Thomas underwear on, he changed them himself.  Again, very excited.  Oh but then he found an even cooler pair of Thomas underwear.  So after four pairs, that is what he is sleeping in tonight.
These are actually pics of Dylan, even thought the post is more about Carter.
