A few random ones I've heard lately

 

Dylan was all excited talking about Mother’s Day and told me I needed to go to a restaurant, then turned it into we should go to the trampoline place!

One day Carter told me, “Olivia’s earning her teeth”.  So then I asked them if they had been learning about earning things at school – indeed they had! 

Olivia has been a bit grumpy with teeth and ear infections- tonight Carter walks by her - yeah she's crabby.  Yesterday on our drive home from Baxter she cried about the entire way home - one of them said, she's getting like five teeth mom.  

Dylan in the truck one night- Mom, you are skinny.  Thanks Dylan.  Mom, you know what skinny is?  It’s the opposite of fat.  You used to be fat.  Thanks DylanJ 

One day I was watching the boys out the window and Dylan was walking around picking up dandelions and he kept yelling to Carter, I’m just picking out flowers for mom – sweetest thing ever!!!!

Really? Really mom?  Dylan is on a "really" kick, I've been hearing it a lot lately.  

We were talking about visiting some friends who had a baby - Carter said, that baby is probably a kid now.

After asking Carter to stop climbing on the banister, he said, "you guys just shouldn't have had kids so they wouldn't break your house"

Yesterday they were telling me that we should probably have 3 more babies- no thank you!

I asked them if they were going to live together after they moved out.  And the answer was yes!  Then Carter said he wanted to live with me forever:)  I liked that one!

Babies, Babies and Babies!

After the baby shower we went to Nicole and Ryan's for a little BBQ and it was a beautiful day for (which is rare around here lately)

I don't think everyone is in the picture, but there were a lot of kids there that night!  4 little babies, 2 bigger babies and 5 big kids.

BABY SHOWER

My girlfriend Nicole is due with a little boy late July, so Autumn and I did a little shower for her.  So much more fun planning showers with the power of Pinterest!  

 

Check out these cupcakes!  Autumn picked them up at Scratch in Des Moines and they were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!  I went by on Sunday to pick one up, but they are closed on Sundays.  I tried a couple kinds, both were awesome.  

Autumn found these fun drinks, sherbet ice cream and champagne- fun and tasty!

 

My friend Jackie gave me this last-minute idea.

 

Keith was a trooper during the shower and took the kids to a couple different parks.  Not too bad with the boys but Olivia can be challenging since she is entering the turbo mobile stage.  And it was a bit toasty that day.

When they got back Jess was there with baby Jace.  Olivia was giving him all sorts of hugs.  And this picture officially makes her giant.  She was LOVING him!

Can't wait to meet Baby Boy B. this summer!  

My party helpers!

Every time I do a party, Dylan gets super into it and is my big helper.  Both boys helped, but Dylan LOVES helping me.  The funny part is, he thinks just because we do one thing for one type of party, that's what we do for every party.  Like, I think we bought red plates like 6 months ago for Olivia's birthday because we did that for their 3rd bday.  (and yes, he remembers crazy stuff like that).  So for their last party I put forks and napkins a bucket, so he kept trying to put out "the party bucket" - so he called it!  Keith had gone out that night with his friends, Olivia was in bed, so it was just me and the boys.  Carter finally got so tired he told me he wanted to go to bed.  Dylan just kept asking for more jobs and didn't go to bed until about 10:30.  

 

 

 

While I was putting Carter in bed I asked Dylan if he would wrap tissue around these gifts and put them into bags.  He came back up and said the tissue wouldn't stay so he had to tape it!  

 

Family Pictures

Somehow I managed to convince both boys to draw a picture of our entire family.  This is a tough one, because they lose interest pretty quick - both wanted to give up after the 3rd or 4th person.  I did it separate with each, I was curious if they would draw the same or totally different.  And as you can see - totally different!  I would like to say they drew the sun, tree, house and stella:)  

Above is Dylan's.  It looks like they must be doing ears at school because both drew the ears.  This is the first I've seen of these hands with fingers.  Notice Stella on Dylan's pic is peeing.  He added that:)  My bad for putting the idea in his head, I said I will draw her by the tree - probably peeing.  He liked that idea - can't wait to see what school drawings will include this week from that!  OOPS.

This one is Carters, sorry, I took it sideways.  I'm loving my hair!  Carter actually drew his pretty darn quick.  He also added a doorbell to the house.  

I'll have to try to have them draw family pics every few months, it will be fun to see how they change as they get bigger.

You know what takes the fun out of May Day?

 HIGH WINDS AND SNOW!!!  Not sure how things have been going in your parts of the country, but here in Iowa we had snow last week. YES, snow in May.  Feeling so lucky to be part of some record breaking weather.  Not so much!  I thought it would be a flurry or two, but no - like school buses were in ditches snow.  Anyway, seems to be gone.  I haven't put the winter coats away again as that seems like the perfect time for another dusting.  I asked Dylan why it was snowing, he said God forgot it was summer:)

Last minute as always I was quickly moving through Target collecting cups, popcorn, candy - and then…. the dollar spot was catching my eye and May Day will be forever changed at our house.  NO MORE BASKETS that fall over - especially in high winds.  We did a combination of chalk, glow sticks and windmills for the babies!  This was MUCH, MUCH easier!  

Our first tball game!

Last Saturday (when it was Spring around here) we had our first tball game.  This is our first sport we've played, so it's been a good learning experience.  Baseball at 4 is a bit difficult to say the least.  These two just haven't seen the game much so they don't know much.  
Dylan has been into it somewhat.  Carter has been really stubborn not wanting to participate in practice - if you notice no uniform.  Wouldn't wear his cleats, pants, shirt or hat.  I've been learning with him, if he is not confident or doesn't know how to do something he completely closes up and shutdowns on you.  So a bit challenging, learning to work with that.  

Dylan was the first batter and had a great hit off the tee and was having so much fun running around the bases.  Every time the he would go from third to home he would fly like an airplane home.

Attention spans for 4 year old baseball is not great.  Dylan was playing third and he would be out there cleaning his base. 

 

 

Hope these two aren't in the same class, I know the boys aren't super tall - but this could be bad:)

Carter finally went out and played the second inning.  Wouldn't wear a batting helmet but did have fun once he got going.  He was a little hustler out there.  I told him, all you have to do is run to the ball and get it.  So he would be at 2nd and the ball would go to short and he would sprint across the field for it getting to it about faster than short.  But then he would be bummed he didn't get it.  Pretty funny!  Hopefully this snow goes away so we can play again someday.
