Bring on the pink, our newest addition to the family is a girl!
Oliva Lily Bormann joined us June 26th at 7:44 am. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and was 18 inches long. Everyone is doing well and we made it through our first night with success. Dylan and Carter came to visit yesterday afternoon and were very excited to meet their new sister. Both broke into song a couple times to help their sister sleep. Here are a couple pictures from yesterday, we had a lot of great visitors and we'll post more pictures soon.

One last comparison - 39 weeks!
One last comparison! Here is me at 39 weeks and on the right is me with the boys at 38 1/2, the night before I had them! Definitely a lot smaller these last couple weeks in comparison. The funny thing is- sometimes when I am out I feel like people stare at me a lot - I walked out of the bathroom at Homemakers and I swear like 5 people were looking at my stomach. Maybe I was walking weird. But gosh - can't imagine what people thought when they saw me with the boys. I do recall a trip to the mall a day or two before they were born and one of those people selling crap in the middle of the mall attempted to win me over with his sales pitch - here's a tip, just because it's easy to catch me b/c I'm not moving so quick - DOES NOT mean I want to spend any time listening to a sales pitch -especially when my goal is just to make it in and out of the mall.
We are still nowhere near prepared as we were before. We just watched our video of when the boys were born. We probably should have taken a U-Haul to the hospital then, we had about everything we owned packed up for the hospital. This time we will be showing up without a car seat! No worries- Jennifer will have it there before we leave. Still, we just aren't quite as on top of it. Hope this is an easy baby or we are in trouble! I also think we have finally landed on a name too!!! Now just praying for a healthy baby!

What's bugging Keith
Me not pre-treating the laundry! He’s right, I really should! I won’t even get started on the socks that are balled up and inside out.
Too many blankets and couch pillows! The boys basically pull these off the couch or out of the basket and constantly wrestle in them. I find it quite annoying as well. But he gets extra annoyed because he says he picks them up three times a day. I tell him it is an absolute waste of time to pick them up before they go to bed. They will be back on the floor in 5 minutes.
People who water their yards at peak times of the day. This sure bugs Keith, anytime we drive by a house with sprinklers going at 1:00 in the hot afternoon I hear about how much water they are wasting.

this & that
I am sure happy I won’t be needing to wear maternity clothes soon. There are a few (very few) shirts I’ll miss, but I have definitely been wearing some questionable things to work lately! I was so excited to get rid of some of them I took most of the sweaters down to the basement. Not sure about the rest of my wardrobe, it’s been a while since I have reviewed it.
Anyone else feel like their purse is a big black hole. Sometimes I am absolutely amazed by what I pull out of there. I had two pairs of sunglasses in it last week – no idea? And they aren’t small! Not a wonder it’s so heavy to lug around.
We have been spending a bit more time indoors because it’s been super hot outside!
I think my nesting phase might be over- too bad I can’t hang on to a bit of that.
I’ve been trying to pick up our basement for what seems like FOREVER now! Talk about one step forward, two steps back. There was the bathtub incident- I think I wrote about it. I was taking a bath and when I popped the drain, the pipe came unhooked and dropped A LOT of water into the basement. Luckily it sounded strange so I quickly plugged the drain. Still – huge mess in the basement. They put one outlet in our basement when it was built – really, who does that. Pretty much the dumbest thing ever. I wish I would have caught it at a walk through, but didn’t realize I needed to check to make sure there was more than one outlet. Anyway, the electrician had to do a couple follow-ups so we had him add two more. I didn’t think much of it until I came home and they had to pretty much drill a circle in about every beam in our basement. And NO, they didn’t not clean up the sawdust mess. I wish I had known they were going to do that, I would have been happy to move toys and things like baby swings out of the way. So that was a mess to clean up. Then keith had moved the humidifier and had left the hose in the wrong direction, so he had to move a bunch of stuff for that mess. So it seems I’m always cleaning up another mess!
Lately I’ve been thinking a beach vacation with tropic waters sounds amazing. I will have to keep dreaming as that is not in our near future.
I still haven’t purchased a single baby stroller, but would like to soon – any recommendations.
Anyone ever have chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches from the Schwan’s man? I recently bought a box for the first time since high school. They were as awesome as I remember!
I have a large collection in the basement geared up for a big garage sale. I should start pricing any day now. I’ve never really done my own sale, so this should be an interesting experience.
I’m very excited because there has been something funky going on with our internet for months now, which possibly had something to do with our time machine. So Keith took it to the apple store this week and he got a new one. It’s working so much better now! I was feeling like we were living in the dial up days.
On a green note, I’m so excited to see some new buds on our rose bush. All of the beautiful flowers died, then the plant looked as though it was heading south fast. I’ve been doing lots of watering and it’s showing some life again! And our little tree in the front is starting to flower too! The guy who sold it to me said it probably wouldn’t have any blooms until Fall.
We had our first little fire on Saturday. It sure made us miss our friends on Russell Ave. Then suddenly Stella hopped up and was acting strange. Sure enough there was a huge deer in our backyard. Keith wants to do a campout with the boys back there – maybe too many creatures for me. He better sleep with one eye open.
OK – that’s enough rambling for today.

My boys….
My sweet (sometimes) little boys are growing up so darn fast!!!
I listen to them talk now and can’t believe how grown up they are
getting.
Here are some of the things they are into right now….
Carter
·
Carter is
really liking driving around cars, boats, tractors and he still loves his
trains
·
He LOVES
to ride his bike and goes quite fast. One night he insisted on taking his
training wheels off, that lasted about 3 minutes and they were back on.
Recently his new thing is doing “burnouts” – so there are black marks all
down our driveway
·
He is
still a total daddy’s boy, but he has been pretty good to me lately
·
I recently
found a blue blanky like his- after a good two years of looking! He was
so darn excited, he ran and told Keith then came back and jumped in my lap.
·
He loves
to play with the neighbor kids- he will smile and say, “mom can we play with
the kids” – I’m surprised they ask!
·
Carter
can be a bit bossy- if you play trains with him, he will be like – no you have
go that way, you can’t use that train. He is super bossy to the Lynlee
who lives down the street – he will say LYN LEEEEE you can’t park your bike in
our garage or NO LYN LEEEEEEEE– or about anything. Poor girl! We
are working on this!
·
Really
into going to Casey’s (gas station)
·
Loves to
stand and jump far – like over a rug
·
He’s
really into showing you “magic tricks” – which is usually doing a 360 jump
·
One
morning – he had the biggest smile on his face and said – mommy you look
handsomeJ Third trimester – I’ll take it!
·
Always
telling us we need to stop at stop signs- now we have him understanding we only
have to stop if it is facing us.
·
Pretty
much won’t wear any other shoes besides his black tennis shoes with holes in
them
·
Is going
through an obsessive climbing phase which drives me crazy!
·
I think the
younger daycare workers might be rubbing off – one day he said “like” pretty
much before every word
·
Sometimes
he will come up and give me a really sweet kiss on the cheek
·
Still
very engaged talking about any sort of natural disaster
·
Can be so
sweet singing- he was being so nice singing my grandma the sweetest little
songs at the nursing home on Sunday.
·
Carter
gets very serious about his coloring and really focuses in.
·
One day
he kept saying “first of all” – then I got a “first of all, I ate a stop sign”
- I don’t know!
·
Really
likes playing in the sprinkler and slip and slide
·
Loves
story time and always cuddles up
·
As they
get more vocal – the come backs are coming too – he was mad at Keith one day
and told him he was going to throw all Keith’s clothes in the trash
·
Super
into this penguin that we won at adventureland last year. We gave it to
Stella for a while, but now Carter loves it.
·
He thinks
our neighbor Tyler is the world’s coolest kid!
·
His top
baby name tends to be Jasmine, I guess it's an improvement from snake.
·
Carter is
always making up new words for things – I don’t even have any I can tell you
b/c I have no idea what they are usually
Dylan
·
This kid
has a tune in his heart. He sings all the time! But they both get
into “mixes” – so they say and will put together like three songs. Have
you ever heard ABC’s, Twinkle Twinkle and Wheels on the bus mixed
together. I have! But he makes up songs all the time! When we
were working on the patio one morning he had this little walking on the patio
song, then last Saturday that turned into the walking on the deck song – same
tune. Sometimes he will say I made that one up for you mommy.
·
Dylan is
still my little helper! Kid just loves to clean and help out. He’s still
the “trash man” (and he came up with this) and will change the trash and is
pretty good about keeping up with Stella’s dog food and likes to help me water
flowers, loves to vacuum, they are both all over cleaning the lint catcher in
the dryer. Sometimes though I’ll ask him to do one of these things and he
will say no – you do it mom.
·
Dylan can
be quite the chatterbox – sometimes he just doesn’t stop. But I don’t
mindJ I’m sure there will be a day soon that they don’t
say much!
·
One
morning I was trying to wake him up and got- 5 more minutes mom!
WHAT??? Where does that come from? We are starting to get the lip back - OK mom, I KNOWWWWW.
·
Really
likes reading books
·
Has been
in a “WHY” phase lately!
·
He is all
about $3,000, have no idea why. He will be like I am going to give you
$3,000 dollars. I say OK!
·
I think
it’s safe to say he is still a momma’s boy. I’m really nervous about how
he will do with the baby.
·
His new
thing is telling me what things say – for example yesterday they had naughty
reports at school and were not getting candy. He told me he had a report
in his pocket – I said he didn’t have pockets – so then it became his the logo
on his shorts said – “Carter and Dylan had a good report and get candy – yeah,
that’s what my shorts say”. I was at Target and he wanted to buy these
cards and he follows his fingers against the words on the cards and says these
are for Dylan’s table, they aren’t too expensive and we need to buy them - yeah. Of course these didn’t
make the cart and he has been asking me about his letters.
·
Dylan has
been fibbing a bit too much!
·
Loves to
sneak down to mom and dad’s room and sleep with us.
·
This kid
has a CRAZY imagination. Well they both do. They are always in the “nest”
– pile of blankets or playing with the “cleaner” – something to do with a
pillow. That’s just a few- but hey get pretty silly with their
“pretending”. They’ll say I’m just pretending mom.
·
Both are
really into “diggers” – every construction site we pass, they talk about them
·
Dylan
wants to go to Target all the time! That is his favorite place! You
should have heard him there getting groceries on Sunday, he was so giddy
throughout the entire place
·
Dylan has
a hammer hand – he likes to “hammer” with his hand and he calls it his hammer
hand.
·
One day
Dylan told me apples grow on trees so the target workers can have them
·
The boys
got a new teacher and I asked them if they liked her – I got a yeah, she has a
hammer! (they must have been taking things off the walls) Guess it
doesn’t take much to impress a 3 year old.
·
They are
always talking about their birthday party
·
Always
wanting to buy stuff, we have to talk him out of about everything – which is
NOT easy! He’ll say for you mom and have about 8 reasons why. And it's never toys- it will be like a candle or flowers or cards.
·
Dylan
likes to do about everything himself – intervening is generally not worth
it! He can be quite stubborn and really hard to talk out of things once
he is set on doing them.
·
When I
won’t let Dylan have something it’s I know I’m just getting it for you mom –
usually with candy or something like that.
·
Loves
McDonalds
· Really likes riding
his bike around

Another trip to the ER - Carter's turn
We have spent more time at hospitals lately than we would like! Just when we thought things were slowing down – last Monday, another incident! Carter had told us he had eaten a rock at school. A new one for us – but I wasn’t really too worried as I’m sure lots of kids eat rocks. Not one of our finest moments- but we have boys, I was happy it wasn’t a bug. Anyway – the night continued and our home quickly became a madhouse. The boys were helping me make spaghetti and Keith was outside working on something. So I had three pans going. Then I wasn’t feeling that well and took a five minute break on the couch – Keith was watching the pans. The boys decided instead of letting me rest, they needed to wrestle on top of me and then all a sudden Carter throws up all over. The grape Popsicle he had just eaten! We were not sure if it was related to the rock, so I called the on-call nurse. By the way she answered my questions I could tell this was not her first rock-eating call. Regardless, she said if he continues to vomit or complains of abdominal pain we need to bring him in.
OK – now we have stuff burning on the stove, Keith has our steam cleaner out trying to save our carpet and….. the doorbell rings! Stella barks like crazy and flies out the front door. A family down the street is out – so then both boys come flying out as well. So I ignore the chaos happening inside and talk to the family and the boys are running around like normal so we thought Carter might be doing better. Then he went back in and threw up again – so it was Keith’s turn for a trip to the hospital. Dylan and I stayed home and ate what was left of our spaghetti. Then I started getting really nervous because if they had to do something – what would they do? So Dylan and I were off to DSM and my mom and dad met me at the hospital to take Dylan to their house.
Keith told me Carter puked again in the car (and I guess he managed to keep it all in the bowl!) and again at the hospital. By the time we got there he already had an x-ray and no rock was found! I’m guessing he tossed that up with everything else and it was just an odd coincidence that he had the flu the same time he ate a rock. Still a little odd to me, I don’t think he has ever thrown up that many times in that small period of time – but happy that we didn’t have to do anything more than an x-ray! As for Carter – I don’t think he will be eating anymore rocks, he has no idea that the flu was causing him to throw up, not the rock. And I think we will keep it that way! (I guess that can go in my book “tales of a mean mommy” someday)
Also an update on Dylan running into the house. I talked to the neighbors and he was playing with the neighbor girl and he was running from her and turned to see if she was behind him and then hit the house. So that makes more sense – I wasn’t really sure how he had ran into the house.
Also- my kids enjoy their time at the doctor / hospital far too much! I guess this is a sign we need to do more one-on-one activities with them.

Never a slow moment
Flu. Check.
Flu. Check.
Flu. Check.
Sinus Infection. Check.
That's how things are looking here. The good news is I hope the boys are done with that for a while. I think Keith is currently not feeling so hot in our bed right now (think I will be sleeping in the guest room) and I am on day 11 of this stinkin sinus infection. I have a new appreciation for people who have these all the time. I am finally starting to feel better today and am really hopeful for a great night of sleep.
I'll try to post a bit more later this week. I have about every piece of laundry we own to fold. I have no idea how it piles up so fast, but I'm running our third load right now, did two yesterday and have two laundry baskets to fold from last week! Really - how does it pile up so fast. Besides the boys' 4 changes of clothes a day:) But their stuff is little!
